What is PT-141?
PT-141 (Bremelanotide) is a synthetic analog of alpha-MSH that activates melanocortin receptors in the central nervous system.
Unlike PDE5 inhibitors (Viagra, Cialis) that work on blood flow, PT-141 works upstream in the brain. It activates the pathways responsible for sexual desire itself, which is why it's effective for both men and women — including in cases where blood-flow drugs don't solve the problem. An FDA-approved version (Vyleesi) exists specifically for hypoactive sexual desire disorder in women.

How to use PT-141

Why does my provider want me to try a low dose first?
